Thanks to the EC and all the members for a great effort. We had a lot of parents and youngsters show up and they were impressed with us and our hobby. A good number of the kids were girls that were very interested. Equality could be catching up!

We will be doing this again April 24 - stay tuned!

Field Visit; TAG event

Thanks to everyone that was able to to come and make our day with Michael Brown an enjoyable day and introduction to our new AMA VP. As you know, Jim Giffin was recently elected as our AMA District X VP and he appointed Michael Brown to fill the position as his successor prior to his passing.

The group did a nice job giving Michael a favorable impression of our field and club. Michael may come back this next Tuesday, March 23rd, to fly with us again. We will let you know for sure as soon as his schedule is finalized.

The club has been awarded a $378.00 grant from AMA to facilitate the implementing of our Take of And Grow (TAG) Program. The first event will be a week from Saturday, March 27th, and the second event will be Saturday, April 24th. We hope to as many from the schools and the community coming to see what Radio Control Flying is all about. Diversification of flying machines from club members and buddy box guest flying and information on flight is what it is all about. Our own Tom Traeger will be heading up the teaching side of the day as well as joining the other flying facilitators.

Frank Ross will co-ordinating the TAG event on the 27th, so, please let Frank know where you can help. Bring lots of water and Royal Catering will be thereat lunch time if you do not bring your lunch. Royal does a good lunch and the cost is reasonable.

Thanks again,

Magnum shows gas .52 engine

For non-electric flyers, there was little new at the RCX show. The one item of interest was a .52 gas engine from Magnum. The body looks like a normal .52 XLS engine, but has a larger gas carb front mounted, a spark plug on top, and an electronic ignition unit. Priced somewhere south of $200, savings in pricey glow fuel will make this attractive. Due in maybe a couple months.
